Seekers Group New Book Study Sundays at 9am on Zoom

Current Book: Do I Stay Christian? (2022) helps Christians address the questions of whether and how to stay Christian when the term can mean irreconcilable things, addressing in public the powerful question that surprising numbers of people―including pastors, priests, and other religious leaders―are asking in private. Contact the church office or speak to Rev. Catherine Gaw for more details.

Lectionary Study Group (aka "Preacher's Help Group") Tuesdays 10:30am on zoom

Care and support for one another in Community  2nd Thursday 7pm, 4th Thursday 9am

Meeting this month on March 14 & 28. People of all ages and walks of life are invited to gather for a time of silent prayer in the sanctuary two evenings a month on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at 7pm (2nd Thursday) and 9am (Fourth Thursday) for approximately 15-20 minutes. This offers an intentional way to hold in prayer all those persons in our lives for whom we have care and concern. And an understanding that we all carry some heaviness in our lives. All are welcome.

Opportunities for Service and Outreach

PIE Day Celebrations - Ideas Needed!

Celebrate National Affirming/PIE Day on March 14, 2024! Why PIE? PIE = Public. Intentional. Explicit. Those are the standards we hold ourselves to as we seek to welcome all and live into being Affirming, Welcoming, and Inclusive people and communities.

The theme for PIE Day 2024 is: PIE in the Public Square! What does it look like to live out PIE beyond the walls of our own ministries or organizations, and into our communities, streets, and city halls? This is what we will explore and celebrate in 2024!

Would you like to assist the Affirming Committee in its PIE Day activities? Contact Stephen Poirer or Janet Hammock!  Together might we strive to be Public, Intentional, Explicit, in our Inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+ People

Share in Leadership at a Sunday Gathering April 7 needed

Would you be interested in reading on Sunday Morning (including, on some mornings, lighting the Christ Candle)? You may sign up on the list on the Circles of Service Board or by calling the Church office.  On Thursday afternoon the Church Office will communicate with you and provide you with the specific text(s) you will be asked to read, including the possibility of a selection of modern wisdom in the form of a quote from a current text.  A sign-up list is posted on the circles of service board.

International Women’s Day Donations accepted up until March 5

When women are inspired to be included, there’s a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. With this in mind and in order to aid women in distress, we are asking you to donate items like soaps, toothbrushes, toothpastes, feminine hygiene products, deodorants, mouthwash, winter scarves and mitts, new women’s underwear, etc.  Financial donations gratefully accepted.  We will gather these items in the Quiet Room until March 5th. We will share these items with Autumn House (located in Amherst which serves Sackville), Ensemble Moncton, Tantramar High School Pantry, Mount Allison Food Bank and Sackville’s Food Bank. Thank you in advance for your support of this project: Anne Pirie, Catherine Gaw, Elsie MacDonald

Books Wanted for Dorchester LGBTQ+ Group

Rev. Lloyd is still welcoming resources that might be shared with a Queer Library at the Dorchester Penitentiary. Please speak to him if you have anything you would be interested in sharing.

Committee Positions Seeking to be Filled For THIS SUNDAY'S Annual Meeting

We have a number of positions within our executive and other committees that we are seeking to fill at this year's annual meeting. If you are called to volunteer, or have a suggestion of someone who might wish to be nominated, please contact the church office or reach out to Rev. Lloyd.

Affirming Fund and Benevolent Fund

These two funds, one of them newly created, allow Sackville United to respond to individual needs of those in our local community. The newly-created Affirming Fund is intended for local LGBTQ2+ persons needing assistance - this includes support for gender affirming care (legal changes of name and/or gender, LGBTQ2+ related medical expenses not covered by health insurance, etc.) and other areas in which LGBTQ2+ persons might be of need. Both of these funds exist by virtue of your generous donations. Contributions can be made regularly through PAR (contact the church office to update), by e-transfer, or by indicating the name of the fund to which you wish to contribute on your offering envelope.

Food Bank In Need Every Sunday morning

As the cost of living continues to steeply rise, here are a list of items needed this week by the Sackville Food Bank. Items dropped off at the church will be collected weekly, and monetary donations collected through SUC will be given directly to the food bank.  Please see information about food insecurity and food insecurity resources in Sackville here as well as a list of needed items.
