Well, its a few days late but here are some musings for your consideration as we enter the weekend…
Last Sunday found me reflecting on the horror of the terror attack in Christchurch, inviting us to ponder how our desire for retribution is connected to our image and understanding of the Divine… and how Jesus beckons us to follow on a path of openness and vulnerability.
This Sunday, on what is the third milestone on our Lenten Journey, we will place a small seedling on the pathway and I will be pondering the story Jesus is reported to have told in Luke’s gospel in response to some “who told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.” Specifically, if I am able to pull it together between this afternoon and Sunday morning, I hope to be able to make connections between Jesus response of “Do you think that because these Galileans suffered in this way they were worse sinners than all other Galileans?” and current events. You can tell me Sunday after the service whether I’ve come even remotely close…
In other news… On Monday April 1st you are invited to a Lunch and Learn Event. Lunch will be served at 12 noon and after lunch Roger Janes Roger Janes, our regional Stewardship & Gifts Officer, will offer an entertaining and enlightening session entitled What Will be Your Legacy.
Roger describes his presentation in this way:
What Will Be your Legacy? “I’m too young”; “I’m too old”; “I haven’t got enough”; “I don’t want to think about it”. The excuses are legion. The story is the same. If you pay taxes, then you need think about your resources and how God calls you to use them. We are all gifted differently. Come and find out how to start planning your estate, what to include in your Will, and how to make the most of your gifts! Over lunch on April 1st at 12 noon at Sackville United Church.
