Musings: On Morning Mist and mystery...

I stood at the kitchen sink this morning sipping my first cup of coffee for the day and this was the view out the window... mist hovering over the hayfield with the rising sun painting the sky in a blush of pastel colours...

I could not stay inside. I took my coffee and went to the deck to sit and enjoy the embrace of the rising sun - alas - all the chairs are on the deck at the trailer! And so I walked through the dew soaked grass until I could feel the mist around my legs. The light evolved and filled the sky. The mist rose and dissipated.

The gift and mystery of a new day.

Such moments can serve to remind us that we are one with the earth - and - that all moments matter. Each choice we make, each word we speak or choose not to speak, each action, each inaction, brings forth a reaction... so let us act and speak with intention and care.

Live with intention.

Walk to the edge.

Listen Hard.

Practice wellness.

Play with abandon.

Laugh.

Choose with no regret.

Appreciate your friends.

Continue to learn.

Do what you love.

Live as if this is all there is.

Faithfully,

Looking Ahead

I am working from home today, writing, reading and reflecting as I prepare for what will be a full week including a funeral and a wedding.

Tuesday morning I will be in the office and will meet with the Lectionary Study Group at 10:30AM via Zoom. If you'd like to take part and are not already on the email list drop me a note and I'll send you the link. In the afternoon I will be meeting with Gary MacDonald to begin planning our first All Ages Gathering for September 25th: Orange Shirt Sunday.

On Wednesday I am scheduled to be meeting with ministry colleagues in Moncton and at 2PM I will be officiating at the funeral of Aubrey Atkinson. In the evening I will be taking part in the Drew/Tantramar Foundation Meeting. Unfortunately this means that I will miss the first evening Seniors Sharing the Table where Harris will speak on autism.

Thursday will be devoted to finishing the liturgy and writing a reflection for Sunday. Don't forget, the PRIDE flag will be raised at 6PM in front of the Mt. Allison Chapel - see you there!

On Friday evening I have a rehearsal in preparation for the wedding on Saturday - and I hope to be done in time to take part in the PRIDE parade which begins at 5:30PM and goes from the Chapel to the Town Hall where another PRIDE flag will be raised. Sackville United folk are encouraged to walk as a body with flags flying high and our banner waving proudly!

The wedding of Lacey White and Joshua Best will fill my Saturday afternoon and I expect given all the other things that have filled the week, that I'll be working on the reflection into the evening!

On Sunday we hope to have a full house at 11AM as we mark the anniversary of Sackville United Church being recognized as an Affirming Ministry of the United Church of Canada. Wear your PRIDE colours and come prepared for a joyous celebration!

Looking Further Ahead

I am in Halifax offering leadership at an event on behalf of the larger Church from the afternoon of September 20th to the morning of September 23. I will be available by phone and can schedule Zoom meetings during that period. I apologize for any inconvenience this causes.
