The new Pentecost banner comes from the First Baptist Church in Matanzas, Cuba. It was made by women in a sewing guild. The church sits in the middle of the city.It is a welcoming centre. Programs of art, music, drama and a safe space for everyone are offered.
A group called SOMOS, (“We Are”), meets there. This is a group for gays and lesbians who want to express their spirituality openly. The church is in need of repairs and many things. Laughter and activity are abundant. Priority is given to providing musical instruments for teenagers, supplies for the sewing guild and food for seniors.
Rev. Catherine received the banner from Anne and Eldon and dedicated it on Pentecost Sunday.
