FOOD BANK SUNDAY: Today is food bank Sunday for the Pastoral Charge. We are asked to bring our offerings of non-perishable food items or consider a monetary contribution to the food bank to help meet the immediate needs of our neighbours and friends, even as we continue to address the underlying injustices that lead to long-term food insecurity.
A SPECIAL CELEBRATION: Maritime Conference celebrates with Eldon Hay the sixtieth anniversary of his ordination at this year’s Conference on Saturday evening, May 27th. All are welcome to attend and show our support for Eldon and the many years of faithful service he has shared with us.
MARITIME CONFERENCE ANNUAL MEETING: The Annual Meeting of Conference is here once again. Thank you to all of the delegates and volunteers taking part in next week’s events, and a reminder as part of Conference weekend that there will be NO regular services at either Upper Sackville or Sackville on May 28. We are all encouraged to attend the Service of Praise and Celebration of Ministry held at 10am at the Tantramar Civic Centre.
COMING UP AT UPPER SACKVILLE: Coming up at our favourite “country church” is a music afternoon from 2-4pm on May 28, featuring gospel favourites and fellowship!
SUC EXECUTIVE LOOKING TO FILL ONE MORE POSITION: The SUC Executive is seeking to fill the fourth available elder position. Anyone who is interested can speak to a member of the Executive.
SHARED MINISTRY GATHERING: A Shared Ministry gathering will be held on June 1st @ 6:30 in the Sanctuary. At this gathering, we will share the activities and the needs of each circle of service. Also we will discuss how the circles are funded. Representatives from the following circles of service are encouraged to attend: WORSHIP, OUTREACH, CEMETERIES, FAITH FORMATION, BOOK STUDY, PRAYER CIRCLE, PASTORAL CARE, AFFIRM, KITCHEN RE-SHAPING, PROPERTY, DYING, DEATH AND BEYOND STUDY, WEDNESDAY COFFEE,AUDIO VISUAL, COMMUNICATIONS, CHOIR. …..Elsie
BOOK EXCHANGE AT THE SACKVILLE LIBRARY: The Sackville Public Library invites you to participate in this year’s Book Exchange, on Saturday, May 27, 10:00-1:00. Used books in good condition may be left in advance at the Library, or brought on the day of the Exchange. For each book donated, you will receive a voucher entitling you to choose a book from among those that others have donated. Let your old books find new homes. Find new books to love.
CENTERING PRAYER: Centering prayer group meets every Monday; all are welcome to join for one half hour of prayer together.

The Inconvenient Indian: a Curious Account of Native People in North America: by Thomas King The Toronto Star writes: “Every Canadian should read Thomas King’s new book… It’s funny, it’s readable, and it makes you think. If you have any kind of a social conscience, The Inconvenient Indian will also make you angry.”

Medicine Walk: Richard Wagamese. A novel filled with insight and compassion in which a son is called to visit his estranged father.

The Break: Katherena Vermette. The Break is a story of a young Metis mother who looks out her window and sees someone in trouble on the Break. Madeleine Thein, writes: “ The lives of the girls and women in The Break are not easy, but their voices-complex, urgent, and unsparing- lay bare what it means to survive, not only once but multiple times, against the forces of private and national histories.”
