Musings, May 7th 2019: Back on the Bike!

Monday marked the beginning of what is becoming a spring ritual for me – get the bike out and making that first ride. Not the motorcycle – the bicycle! The motorcycle is sold (much to my mother’s relief!)

It felt good – yes, the legs and my butt hurt after the first ride… but having that first ride in made it easier to get up this morning and get out there again! It feels good! And, it feels even better to know that in addition to each kilometer contributing to my health, that my peddling is raising money for a good cause: The Great Cycle Challenge, Riding to Fight Kids’ Cancer.

Last year I rode 509.25km and surpassed my initial fundraising goal of $500 and raised over $2,500.00 thanks to generous folk like you! This year, I’ve kept set my distance goal at 500km and have ambitiously set my fund raising goal at $2,500.00. Can you help?

Such a challenge will be tough, but it’s nothing compared to what these brave kids and their families face every day of their lives as they battle this terrible disease. Kids should be living life, NOT fighting for it.

Please consider supporting this effort by making a donation through my fundraising page: https://greatcyclechallenge.ca/Riders/LloydBruce

I will also have envelopes available at the both churches in case you’d rather make your donation in cash.

All funds raised will support SickKids Foundation to provide care, develop treatments and find a cure for childhood cancers.

Thank you for your support. Lloyd

Looking Ahead

Monday was spent engaged in pastoral visits and office meetings. Today I’m taking the morning off as I have pastoral visits scheduled this afternoon and a meeting this evening.

On Wednesday I’m attending a meeting in Moncton in the morning followed by the VE Day Parade with the Sackville Legion in the evening. Thursday morning I’ll be working from home finishing up for Sunday and in the afternoon I have three pastoral visits scheduled.

Friday morning will see me in the office and on Saturday morning I will be walking with Linda MacDonald and the family and friends of Marilyn Young and we celebrate Marilyn’s life in community beginning at 11am.

And then, on Saturday evening I hope you’ll come and join in the Coffee House and Open Mic at Sackville United Church, beginning at 7PM, hosted by my colleague and friend, Paul Rumbolt.

Sunday morning we will gather at 9am at Upper Sackville United Church and at 11am at Sackville United Church. Hope to see you there… if not before!
