I am working on creating new habits… healthier habits that require me to let some things go and leave more space in my life, and I would venture to say that this is so much more difficult than doing something!
I was raised in a household where standing still, was for the most part, regarded a sin! Saturday morning cartoons, once were we able to contribute to the household were a rare thing! And while I may have moaned and groaned at the time, that work ethic that my parents nurtured within me has served me well. Thank you Mom and Dad!
But I am finding these days that I tend to take on too much… hence my desire to foster new habits – or maybe less habits!
The experts say: “Start with an incredibly small habit…” and then, “Increase your habit in small ways…” I want to decrease NOT increase… and as a result, the usual Musings on Monday didn’t get penned until this morning… I beg your forgiveness!
Letting go is hard work! I still remember the challenge that it was for me to quit smoking 32 years ago… but it was worth it – and I know that creating new habits and letting go of my constant activity level will add as much to my life as quitting smoking did so many years ago!
Here’s to new habits!
