Palm Sunday & Holy Week

I can’t believe this Sunday is Palm Sunday. Lent went by quickly (likely because I was away for the first two Sundays), and all told, I’m not sure the season did me a whole lot of good. I don’t feel any more ‘pure’ or ready for Easter!

Just last night Kate remarked that she’d not hear me curse and cuss as much as I have been of late! And, I’ll admit, given the yo-yo that is the Trump/Republican administration and its effect on the world, I have used a whole lot more profanity the past five weeks than normal. I’ve been irritated and irritable, and short with people. If you have been on the receiving end, please accept my apologies.

Still, there are a few more days left, so maybe there is time to work on my heart and soul as I gather in community this Sunday and in the days to come, Holy Thursday, Good Friday… and Easter Sunday.

Gathering in community offers us all an opportunity to  find a new depth of spirituality that can sustain us in these challenging days. You may be doing better than me, but, if not, why not join with me and others to try and pray more - and by pray I mean name our gratitudes and intentions and commit to working together more. Such action, while it might not save the markets or the environment overnight, may save our own souls from the cancer of selfish individualism. Prayer and community accomplishes this by uniting us, and putting us in touch with the least selfish role model: Jesus.
