SEVEN WEEKS OF THANKSGIVING:WEEK 5

Sackville United Church Sunday School is blessed by a team of dedicated leaders: Andrea Beverley, Gary MacDonald and Mora MacDonald who remind me of the importance of tending connections / relationships in community.

Our current practice with Sunday School is to offer a Zoom session once a month for children with a Godly Play presentation, feast, and community time. As a way to stay in touch, we also deliver family kits monthly with greetings, a summary, feast foods and creative materials for children.

I appreciate the commitment of our congregation in supporting our ministry with children and youth. Jennie and Lloyd provide ready encouragement and service. There are many gifts of intergenerational engagement being offered in a variety readings of Christmas books during Advent. This was facilitated by Elsie MacDonald and Catherine Gaw.

With guidance from Eric Tusz-King and Catherine Premier possibilities are being offered for an Eco Project with older youth.

In this time it challenges us to create sacred space virtually. This involves reimagining what leadership in this space together means. We are learning new ways to engage in virtual community with all our senses, including silence, music, and taste. Godly Play is a creative and imaginative approach to faith formation. Relationship, process, openness, and discovery are valued. The Spirit thrives whatever the venue, virtually and in person!

I wonder what part of sacred space you like best.

In gratitude, Anne
